Around the Shop

I love fat quarters.  I like seeing them all stacked together.

I like mixing and matching them to make lovely combinations.  Buying fat quarters is a great way to build a stash.  It’s a great way to get an entire line of fabric that you love – without breaking the bank.   

And I love that at the Fabric Mill we have pockets of fat quarters around the shop – here and there…

…in baskets and bins…

…and of course in the case on the wall! 

And to go with all of those lovely fat quarters, we have plenty of patterns that are fat-quarter-friendly!  Just ask!

Dads & Grads

It’s the season of our local University graduation ceremonies.  What a great gift either of these quilts would make for your favorite college grad!  Both the BYU and University of Utah kits will make a quilt that finishes at 55” x 64” and each kit is $58.  The instructions for making the quilt are included in the kit as well.

 

And looking ahead….Father’s Day is not far away – and I’m sure you know a Dad or Grandpa who would love a BYU or U of U quilt of their own!

Rocket Age display quilt

I just love the Rocket Age fabrics (Riley Blake) that we have in stock right now.  (To see more of the fabrics click here.) 

This new display quilt is made from the Rocket Age fabrics and a pattern called “Diamond Centerpiece”.  I love how the pattern lets the fabrics really be the star of the show!

The pattern was designed by our very own Carol Lawson and can be found here at the Fabric Mill!

Story Book

These sweet Story Book fabrics (Moda) are new to our shelves!  We have two colorways – Aqua and Peach.

My favorite print are these adorable castles-

Mirabelle Quilt + Kit

We have another great “Jelly Roll friendly” quilt pattern to share with you and the perfect way to show you just how great it is!  How ‘bout a peek at the newest display quilts?  Well, here you go!



The quilt pattern is called “Strip Search” and it was made using a Jelly Roll from the new Mirabelle line (Moda).  I love that Myrna added sashing between the blocks and a border from one of my favorite prints from the line. 



We have kits available to make this Mirabelle quilt and it includes the instructions and supplies to add the sashing and borders too, just like in the display quilt.



The quilt finishes at 62” x 78”.  The kit is $ 82.50 and is available in the shop or by ordering over the phone: 801-225-3123

We also have charm packs, layer cakes, fat quarters and yardage from the Mirabelle line – they’re all so pretty!  I love seeing them stacked up on the end of our counter where we can enjoy them (at least while they last!)

New Spring Fabrics

Easter is a few short weeks away (well, five and a half weeks away) so now is the time to start thinking about those Easter projects – skirts, girls’ dresses, table runners, aprons!



This new Moda line called Printemps is so very spring-flavored.

But if you are looking for something with a little more glitz and glam, check out the new sparkle fabrics from Riley Blake. 



Pretty spring colors, with just enough sparkle!  My favorite are the damask prints!



These are just two of the new spring lines we have on the shelves.  I’ll have more sneak peeks of the other lines, but if you just can’t wait then stop by the shop and see them in person!

Minky & Cuddle fabrics

 As I promised yesterday, I’m back with a look at our new March display!

We’ve swapped out our hutch display this month for a trunk show of Cuddle fabrics.  Sure, it’s fun to see, but you really must come and feel it to appreciate it! 

This little guy is my favorite – he peeks out from around the right corner of the hutch.  And yes, that’s applique! 

There are so many wonderful textures, patterns and colors!

And minky ruffles??  Yes!  The ruffle adds such a nice, finished touch to this baby blanket -

The main shelf of the hutch is FULL of patterns, idea sheets and pages with tips and tricks – all to help you find new, fun ways to use Minky & Cuddle fabrics in your sewing.

I have this pattern on my to-do list now.  Isn’t it sweet?

Lovely new Precuts!

Our shelves are full of new fabrics this Spring!  One of the newest lines is Mirabelle and it is THE perfect collection of spring prints.  You’re going to love it.  We have the yardage (I’ll show you more of that in a later post) but for now here’s a peek at the stack of precuts we have available from Mirabelle:

We also have precuts for the Little Black Dress 2 line.  I showed you some of the yardage from that line back in this post.  These prints are so elegant and gorgeous!

Rocket Age

We have Rocket Age!  This adorable line from Riley Blake is filled with old-school charm.  I love this main print – it makes me wish my boys were young again!

As always, we have fat quarters cut and ready for your next project!

And speaking of projects, Riley Blake has a free pattern for you to use with the Rocket Age fabrics.  How cute are these stars?
