I’m talking fat quarters today!  We have a new book on the shelves that’s just filled with great ideas-

More, and More Precuts!

We have a crazy amount of new precuts here at The Fabric Mill.  I’m going to show you some of them today, but first I want to start with this book -

It’s called Perfect Quilts for Precut Fabrics and it is FULL of some great ideas!  Every pattern in the book (there’s 64!!) uses a precut of some type – either fat quarters, charm squares, jelly rolls or layer cakes.  This is one. thick. book!  (The book is $28.95)

Ok, now to show you some of the precuts!  How great of a gift would that book be, along with a jelly roll or charm pack?  I’d love to find that under the tree (*hint, hint honey*)

Monsters!

 Monsters?  Yep - cute ones!  The silly, googly-eyed monsters are the best part of this quilt.  All sorts of bright and fun prints are paired with the monsters to make an adorable kids' quilt.

The finished size is 42" x 49" and the pattern can be found in this book called Little Quilts 4 Little Kids (by Heather Mulder Peterson).  We just love this book - it's full of such wonderful quilt patterns - all for kids!

Oh Baby!

The Fabric Mill has this “Little Quilts 4 Little Kids” book in stock and over the past year or so we have made several of the patterns into display quilts.  Apparently this book is one of our staff’s favorites! 

This display quilt is the “Oh Baby” quilt pattern from the book.  It’s made using some of the prints from the “Lost and Found 2” line from Riley Blake. 

This line has some lovely blues, grays and yellows that blend so nicely together!

The line also has some really great reds and pinks – here are just a few (and I think I need a new skirt made from that bottom floral print!)

We have a quilt kit available for the Oh Baby quilt shown above.  The kit is $36 and makes a quilt that measures 49” x 53” – a nice snuggly size for a lap quilt or a toddler bed.

Table For Two quilt and kit

I gave you a peek of the new hutch display the other day, but here’s a better look at one of our new display quilts.  This quilt is made using the “Table for Two” fabric line from Moda.

The pattern is called Hip to Be Square and it’s found in the “Vintage Groove” book from Adornit.  It’s a great square-in-square pattern!

Christmas is Everywhere!

As I’ve been in various shops and stores over the past few days I have to say how surprised I am that a lot of them are playing Christmas music already!  Christmas is everywhere!  We don’t have the music yet, but we certainly have the Christmas décor!

I love how the raw edges are left on the ruffles:

And in the shop we have everything you need to make your own Christmas ruffle pillow – including the cute wooden buttons!

Book Spotlight: Adorn It Capri Pattern Book

We have so many great books available here at the Fabric Mill, and many of our shop display quilts are made using patterns from those books.  I thought I’d shine a spotlight on one of those great books today. 

This is the Capri Pattern Book from Adorn It

It’s full of fun ideas and cute patterns!  I recently used two of the patterns in this book: the "Modern Capri" quilt and the "Rows of Ruffles" pillow (both made with Halloween fabrics, and now on display at the shop.)  They turned out so cute and were so easy to make! 

Their version of the ruffle pillow is shown below, using fabrics from their Capri line.  It’s much easier than it looks! 

I’m thinking of trying this cute apron next – maybe using some Christmas fabrics:

Indie Chic

 This is another of our newest display quilts – this one is made using the Indie Chic fabrics from Riley Blake.

The pattern comes from the book “Livin’ Large”.  It’s the “Square Dance” pattern on page 10 of that book.  I think this is the perfect pattern for these large-scale fabrics!  In fact, all of the patterns from the “Livin’ Large” book are designed for large-scale prints.

Right now there are so many fantastic large-scale fabrics to choose from, and there are more on the way this spring.  Stop by the shop, grab the book and start planning your next quilt!
